A proper hand wash and wax, done by hand at your place. Two buckets, clean mitts, wheels and tires handled separately, and a protective finish on top so the next few weeks of Upstate pollen and road film have something to sit on other than your paint.

Most of the fine scratching on a daily driver was not put there by the road. It was put there by whatever touched the paint last.
Tunnel brushes carry the grit from the car in front of you straight onto your clear coat, and a single bucket at home does much the same thing.
Two buckets, one to wash and one to rinse the mitt, is the whole difference. It is not a sales line, it is just how you avoid dragging dirt in circles.
Run the back of your hand over a clean panel. If it feels like fine sandpaper, that is bonded contamination and washing will never take it off.
Rail dust, industrial fallout and tree sap bond into the clear coat and sit there. Chemical decon dissolves the iron, and clay shears off what is left mechanically.
Skip this step and any wax you put on top is sitting on grit rather than on paint, which is why it stops beading in a few weeks.
Brake dust is not dirt, it is hot metal particles that have embedded themselves in the wheel finish.
It needs a dedicated wheel cleaner and its own brushes, and it needs to happen before the paint gets washed so nothing splashes back.
Wheels are also the one thing people notice from twenty feet away, which is why they are worth doing properly.
The Upstate makes this easy to get wrong. Wash a hot car in July and it dries itself in blotches before you reach for a towel.
Those spots are mineral deposits, and left long enough on hot paint they etch in and stop being a cleaning problem.
We work panel by panel, in shade where there is any, and dry with clean towels and air rather than letting the sun do it.
A car with no protection on it is bare clear coat taking pollen, bug guts, bird mess and road salt directly.
A wax or sealant is a sacrificial layer. It is what makes the next wash quick instead of a fight, and it buys you time when something acidic lands and sits.
It is not permanent and we will not pretend it is. It is the cheap, sensible layer between washes.
Most vehicles are a couple of hours. A truck, a van or anything that has gone a long time between washes takes longer, and decontamination adds time on paint that needs it. We bring our own water and power, so a parking space is enough.
If the paint is already swirled and dull, a wash and wax will make it clean but it will not make it sharp again. Wax hides very little. If that is what you are after, look at paint correction instead and we will be straight with you about which one your paint actually needs.

It is a different thing. A tunnel is fast and it touches your paint with brushes that just touched somebody else's. This is by hand, at your place, and it is what keeps paint from getting swirled in the first place.
It depends on the product, where the vehicle is parked and how often it gets washed. A sealant generally outlasts a carnauba wax. We will tell you what went on your car and what to expect from it.
